5 Listbuilding Tips
To make a consistent income online, you need to own a good list of buyers who have bought from you before or who are interested in what you have to offer. Every serious online internet marketer knows this fact.
There are many internet marketers or should I say "wannabe internet marketers" who have yet to take the first step to creating their list. Let's say you're an affiliate marketer. You have products to sell that will earn you a commission if you sell them.
That's a great start but hardly a source of consistent income. To get really serious, you need to buy a domain name for 3-5 years, get reliable hosting for it, get an autoresponder service that will manage your future list of subscribers and buyers of the products you are promoting, create powerful keyword-based landing pages for each product you are selling that will offer your visitor a free but useful downloadable report if they fill in their first name and email address and click a button.
Doing that will subscribe them and send them to the vendor's sales page. If your visitor buys from the sales page, you will receive a commission for that sale. This is the tried and true and reliable way to begin earning money online.
It is what happens next however that will allow you to make money on a regular basis. You see, you now have a subscriber to your mailing list. You have sent them a free useful report that may help them with the product they have purchased. You now have a chance to stay in contact with that customer and to develop a business or product relationship with him or her that will benefit you and them in the long run if handled properly.
The question then becomes how you can make the subscribers on your list
more responsive. You may send your subscribers one email after another full of
valuable, useful content, then you make a recommendation to a product
but no one orders through your link. This can get old quickly. Here are 5 tips
that can help you boost your subscriber profits:
Tip 1: Use double optin subscriptions
This means using a good autoresponder like ListHero, Aweber or Getresponse. Double optin is important. Getting people to confirm their subscription ensures you have people on your list who definitely want to hear more from you. This is one of the most important steps to take because it helps you to build a quality subscriber list. Listbuilding is after all, about quality, not the number of subscribers.
Tip 2: Personalize your emails by using their name.
It's been proven time and time again that personalizing increases the power of your communication with your subscribers. Include your subscribers' names in the emails you send because it gives a personal touch.
Tip 3: Train your subscribers
For every 2 good content emails you send out send 1 email that's an honest recommendation you make for a product you think will help them. Never flood your list with offers or you'll turn them off and they'll unsubscribe. Prepare your list to expect to receive offers from you that will be of use to them.
Tip 4: Regularly survey your subscribers
Ask your subscribers what they want every month, then try to deliver it to them. Simple. You might ask them questions like what their biggest problem online is or other more niche specific questions. This helps you to build a personal profile of your subscriber and gives you great understanding as to how
you can help them better and what offers they're more likely to respond
to. You will need to track their responses so be prepared to do that.
Tip 5: Give your list special offers
Make your list an offer that only they will be getting for being a member of your list. Perhaps you can offer a 20% discount for the next 48
hours on your affiliate product. Or you can offer an extra bonus but only if they order something through your affiliate link.
Tip 5.5: Keep in regular contact with your subscribers - like once a week. Don't let them forget who you are. Ask them how they are using the product they bought from you and how they are using it. They'll appreciate the extra thought and will be more responsive to your recommendations. Remember that listbuilding... and your ability to make money from your list resides in your "relationship" with your list, not your number of subscribers.
